CHARLOTTE’S WEB

MAY 10 – JUNE 1

A small, kind-hearted spider miraculously spins webs to show everyone that young “Wilbur isn’t just any ordinary pig!”

A Newbery Honor Book , the Children’s Literature Association named Charlotte’s Web the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years.

Seeking

We are seeking non-AEA for principal and understudy positions; we strongly encourage performers of all ages, sizes, and gender identities to submit.

Production Calendar

REHEARSALS: April 14 – May 3, 2025

TECH: May 4 – May 9, 2025

PERFORMANCES: May 10 – June 1, 2025

  • Preview on May 10 @ 10am
  • Saturdays @ 11:00am & 1:00pm / Sundays @ 1:00pm
  • In addition, ~10 weekday 10am or 12pm school matinees (specific dates TBD).

YPT rehearses Sunday through Friday from 9:30am-3:00pm.
Rehearsals & performances will take place at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N Lincoln Ave).

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN 

Casting all roles and understudies.

Wilbur – Any gender. Age open. An innocent and curious little pig who inspires a spider to save him.

Charlotte (a spider),  Mrs. Arable — She/her. Age open. Wilbur’s wise, resourceful champion, Charlotte cares deeply and sacrifices greatly. Loved by all who know her. Also plays Mrs. Arable.

Fern Arable / Goose, Ensemble – She/her. Teens/20s.  A young girl, Fern loves Wilber and is determined to keep the young pig safe and happy. Also plays Goose, etc…

Templeton, John Arable, Lurvy, Ensemble – He/him. 20s+. Templeton is conniving and selfish, but always manages to do the right thing. Also plays John Arable and the farm-hand Lurvy.

Homer Zuckerman, Avery, Ensemble – He/him.  Homer is Fern’s jolly uncle farmer, while Avery is Fern’s teasing, jokester brother. Also plays Sheep, etc…

Narrator, Gander, Uncle (the Pig at the Fair), Ensemble – Any gender. 20s+. Narrator is our engaging guide. Uncle is a larger, condescending pig. Also plays Gander, etc…
