TUTA Theatre is seeking performers for its production of The Long Christmas Dinner by Thornton Wilder, directed by Co-Artistic Director Jacqueline Stone.
Nine decades long in just one act, this play showcases the lives of several generations of the Bayard Family over 90 years. A structure bending, time defying ensemble piece this play invites us to partake in our past, present, and future over one long dinner. Performers will work in collaboration with the creative team, and explore music, movement, and many wine toasts. All rehearsals will be at TUTA in Ravenswood Manor and all performances will be held in the 101 seat Beatrice Theatre in the Bramble Arts Loft in Andersonville.
Material to Prepare:
A one to one and a half minute performance of any contemporary text and a 1 minute silent movement/action piece that shows a physical transformation from a teenager to middle aged to an 80 year old. Try to incorporate a simple action you do every day. Be creative, there are no rules for this one!
Time Commitment:
Rehearsal period begins 10/28 (weeknights and weekends, exact TBD)
Tech/Previews 11/22 - 11/29 (off on 11/27 & 11/28 for Thanksgiving)
Opening 11/30
Running until 12/29/24
Must be available on 12/23, 12/24 (daytime only) and 12/26 (evening only)
Character Type/Restrictions:
Casting 6-8 roles, all ages, all genders, all ethnicities
Casting 3 understudies
