Trap Door Theatre is now accepting auditions for our 2022/2023 season!

We are seeking performers who have a great sense of what it is like to work with ensemble-based work and who have a high commitment to engage with challenging text. If interested in submitting we are looking for one monologue of your choice which identifies you as a performer, a short song if you are a singer, and any other skill you want to share with us. We are looking for your authentic self, in whatever way you want to be presented.

In your submission, please have your headshot/resume titled in the following format:

If possible, please submit your video as an unlisted Youtube or Vimeo link.

Please email submissions to trapdoorcasting@gmail.com no later than May 23rd, 2022 by midnight.

After reviewing your submission, we will share with our season directors and have individual callbacks for each show as needed.  All rehearsals and tech dates will be dependent on which show you might be considered for. These details will be provided to you as needed.

Trap Door Theatre is committed to seeking out challenging and obscure works. Whether a forgotten European classic, an international project rarely seen in the United States, or an untarnished piece of American literature, Trap Door seeks diverse voices and presents them through innovative expression. We mix established and imaginative techniques to illustrate the absurdities of living in today’s society.

Trap Door Theatre has adopted The Chicago Theatre Standards, which seeks to foster an environment of communication, safety, respect, accountability, and the health, safety, and well-being of institutions and its participants.

COVID Policy:

All cast members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to appear at an in-person callback and be cast in the show. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.
