Charlotte’s Web is a beloved children’s story gently and fantastically dealing with complex themes of friendship, growing up, death, and worthiness. We are seeking adult actors to play a variety of adult, child, and animal roles for our very first entirely touring TYA production! This is the second show put on by Three Brothers Theatre’s emerging theatre for young audiences program, headed by Sammi Gassel, Kelsey Lesseig, Mike Wilson, and Caitlin Robb.

Rehearsals will take place at the Three Brothers Theatre Lab space at 115 North Genesee Street in downtown Waukegan, accessible by the UP-N Metra.

  • Rehearsals will start in late February
  • Regular rehearsal schedule will be 2-3 times per week, Monday-Thursday after 6pm and Saturday/Sunday before 5pm, according to actor availability
  • Tech: Mon April 6th-Thurs April 9th
  • Open: Saturday, April 11th at Glenview Library
  • Close: Saturday, June 20th at Zion-Benton Library
  • This show will tour around various library venues in Lake and northern Cook Counties on Saturdays and Sundays (see schedule below)

Dates Booked: April 11th, 18th, 25th, May 2nd, June 6th, June 20th.

While we are happy to help connect cast members to carpools whenever possible, please consider your transportation needs before submitting.

 

Seeking for the Ensemble Cast:

 

All actors should be prepared to play multiple smaller roles in addition to the tracks listed, perform sound effects, and scene changes. Strong movement technique and a love of engaging young audiences with theatre preferred.

 

The roles of Wilbur and Fern have already been cast.

●     Charlotte – 30+ she/her – A spider. Wise, maternal, and mystical.

●     Arable/Templeton/Lurvy – 30+ he/him – Fern’s very practical yet kind father, a gluttonous Chicago rat, and a farmhand to the Zuckermans

●     Avery/Uncle Homer/Sheep – 20+ he/him to play Fern’s mean teenage older brother, a middle aged farmer, and a sheep with no filter

●     Gander/Uncle the Pig/President of the Fair – a proud father to many goslings, a lumbering prize pig, and a charismatic small town grandstander

Auditions will take place February 7th 12pm-5pm

We’re asking that actors have some weekend daytime flexibility in their schedules for the dates that are TBD, as we are hoping to add 3-5 more shows. We will be dark for Easter/Passover weekend, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day Weekend, and Father’s Day.

Material to Prepare:

Please prepare a family-friendly monologue, no more than 2 minutes. This can be from a play, movie, or it can be an excerpt from a children's book. If you have any fun clowning/physical skills (such as juggling or animal work) you'd like to audition with as well, you are welcome to show it off!
