SUMMARY: Winner of the 2021 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theatre Writing, TL;DR: Thelma Louise; Dyke Remix follows T and L as they drive their convertible off the edge of a cliff and into a fantasy-driven, irreverent, queer, rock musical – TL;DR: Thelma Louise; Dyke Remix where strong female characters don’t “always gotta die.” Suspended in mid-air and with full-on Riot Grrl aplomb, they embark on a convention-defying, queer, odyssey with their Kick-Ass Band. Together, T, L and The Band seek “more than just subtext” and the gay happy ending they’ve always deserved.

NOTE: The following descriptions reflect the need for this cast to defy the traditional cis, white, femme, skinny, able-bodied, male gaze inspired concept of queer women in media.

Actors, please choose 1-2 roles you would like to submit for, and prepare the following for each track: 

T – sweet, naive, a little flighty. Believes in magic, signs from the universe, and that certain things are meant to be. Best friends with L, and willing to follow her lead.

L- hardened by her experience, but has a good heart and is fiercely protective of her best friend T. Loyal. Has a good head on her shoulders, practical.

KickAss Band  – all actors submitting for the band should self accompany on the requested sides, or submit an example of their instrument skills.

BLAZER –  Member of the band, plays drums, bass, or guitar; a bit more woke than the rest.

CUBBY – Member of the band, plays drums, bass , or guitar; more traditionally masc presenting, while still queer. Type that has a tool belt and is ready to fix anything.

HENRIETTA – Member of the band, plays keys, percussion, or bass; the iconic female rockband frontman; a high vocal anchor of the group with a high, guttural belt and commanding personality.

• 30 seconds- one minute of Movement (dance like you’re at your favorite concert, play air guitar, creative piece of your choosing)

MARIE – Member of the band, plays keys, percussion, or bass; A bit more fluid; a low vocal anchor of the group with a smokier quality and attitude. Not afraid to take the lead, but isn’t naturally the frontrunner.
