Our story takes place in a small, isolated downstate Illinois town called Farrow (think Cairo, IL). The town’s difficult history has left it with a palpable sense of desolation and dread. Even the name, Farrow, meaning “a litter of pigs,” evokes all the many challenges sucking the life away from its few remaining residents.

Lately, Farrow’s residents have noticed a strange illness affecting family members with no known cause or cure. The afflicted stop making sense, stop doing their old routines, and their bodies begin to slowly decompose, even as they continue…“living.”

Improvisers performing in this production should know:

• Many aspects of the town’s backstory, details, and the mystery illness will be fixed for all performances. This material will be learned and used.
• Each performance stands alone. This is not a serial. The relationships and details of who succumbs to the illness will be different for each performance.
• Improvisers with a personal connection to small-town life or the themes of isolation, bigotry, stigma, etc. are encouraged to audition

The themes of this piece use the small-town environment as a microcosm to explore how social mores and human relationships shift to cope with the unknown and the incomprehensible. What does it mean for faith, family, and society when your loved ones become unrecognizable? Is it a slow death? Is it the end of the world? Or is it just the latest cruelty in a town called Farrow?

TM productions focus on grounded improvisation that explore the entire spectrum of human emotion, dealing with vulnerable human beings behaving honestly and connecting deeply. Auditioners are encouraged to consider themselves actors first and improvisors second.

Auditions are Tuesday, September 1, 6-8:30 PM

Some pay: cast members receive 35% of the ticket sales.
Auditions slots are 40 minutes apiece with 15 minutes between. If you are available for more than one slot, please email us to let us know, so we can spread out auditioners across the slots evenly. The entire audition will be improvised scenes, so there is nothing to prepare.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 6-8:30 PM, September 8-October 13

Preference will be given to actors who can do all 6 rehearsals. Show dates have flexibility and off-nights built into the schedule.
Shows: Fridays/Saturdays, 7:30 PM, October 16-November 7 (8 shows)
