Black Lives Black Words International Theatre Project in collaboration with The Goodman Theatre is presenting a 3 day event to uplift and honor the lives and voices of Black and Brown Womxn.
We are culminating this event with 100 Womxn of Color reading the full transcript of Sandra Bland’s arrest transcribed by Black British playwright Mojisola Adebayo directed by British artist and Executive director of BLBW Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway
We would love for you to be apart of this monumental production on April 29th, 2019 at 7pm.

WHY: British Playwright Mojisola Adebayo transcribed the dash-cam recording of the arrest of Sandra Bland on July 10th, 2015 as a response to a call out from UK based organization, Artistic Directors of the Future.

28 year old Sandra Bland was pulled over for a failure to signal, forcibly arrested and was later found hanging in her jail cell in Waller County, Texas, on July 13th, 2015.
” This transcript is to be performed as a requiem in words, to be spoken by a large cast of Black women actors and a huge cast of all women who want to join in. All women are invited to join in. Come and speak or sign, sit or stand in solidarity, in memory of Sandra Bland and all Black women who have died in police custody. ” – Mojisola Adebayo

REHEARSAL : Chorus members are required to attend a minimum of 2 of the following rehearsal dates:

-Wednesday, 4/24
-Thursday, 4/25
– Friday 4/26 * Full Run Through of the performance , REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY ***
