Footholds Vol. 6 is a culmination of collaboration, community, and creativity. The idea was conceived as a reaction to one of the most frustrating and intimidating villains an artist can face: a blank page. A blank canvas allows for infinite possibilities, but this can sometimes act as a hindrance. With no definitive starting point, it can be difficult to realize a final product. By introducing a single, ambiguous constraint, a crack in the block of marble, we want writers and collaborators to start with the same limitation and branch off wherever their imaginations take them. This starting point acts as a foothold for the series of short plays. The audience watches to see how each specific voice uses this limitation to their advantage.
This year’s foothold is: A lamp-lit alley, fringing the noise—before, during, or after the party.
Auditions will be done by video submission. Please record a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue showcasing your versatility. All submissions are due by 11:59pm on Thursday, March 6th. Rehearsals: April 16, 2025 – May 23, 2025 (Mon-Fri evenings)
Tech: May 26-June 5, 2025 (Details provided at auditions. Must be available)
Performances: June 6-June 21, 2025 (Pick-up on Wed, Performance Thurs-Sun)

Character Type/Restrictions:
We are seeking an ensemble of seven (7) actors. The actors will be cast to appear throughout the entire production of Footholds Vol. 6. Each actor will appear in at least two of the selected stories. We want to celebrate the unique craft that is the magic of theatrical storytelling! The ensemble breakdown is:

We are seeking actors who are:
- versatile (can play multiple characters in a short span)
- willing to explore movement/dance as a means of expression
- uninhibited by the unknown
- interested in the human condition — both its pitfalls and whimsies
- collaborative, yet unafraid to take ownership
- comfortable playing anything and everything
- playful, humorous, and thoughtful
