Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins

Strawdog Theatre Company announces auditions for our production of HERSHEL AND THE HANUKKAH GOBLINS, based on the book by Eric Kimmel, adapted for the stage by Mike Dailey with music and lyrics by Jacob Combs, and directed by Ellie Levine. A stage adaptation of the classic children’s book, the show will use live music and shadow puppetry to tell the fantastical story of Hershel defeating a series of goblins over the eight days of Hanukkah.

Seeking non-AEA actors of all backgrounds for principal and understudy positions.

We are looking to cast an ensemble of 6 principal actors and 3 understudy actors, made up of singers and instrumentalists, especially those who can play guitar, accordion, fiddle/violin, or clarinet. Special skills training/experience a bonus including but not limited to: shadow puppetry, devising, movement, clowning, magic, and other special skills.

Performers who consider themselves musicians first are strongly encouraged to submit.

Due to the content of the show, we are especially interested in hearing from those who identify with or have a background in Jewish culture and/or faith but we strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, ages, sizes, genders, and abilities to submit. *
