Synopsis
In this classic Miss Marple mystery, the residents of Chipping Cleghorn are baffled when a local newspaper publishes an advertisement inviting people to a “murder” at 6:30 p.m. at Miss Blacklock’s Victorian home, Little Paddocks. When an unknown visitor dies under the prescribed circumstances, Miss Marple turns up to solve the case.

Rehearsals begin with table read Monday, August 24 and continue through October 15 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, followed by tech week beginning October 17.

Character Type/Restrictions:
Miss Marple (60s-90s) Pretends to be an unassuming grandmotherly type, actually solves murder mysteries with more finesse than the professionals.
Letitia Blacklock (50s-70s) Proprietress of a loosely organized boarding house, proper and reserved, opinionated, generous and nurturing in her own way, aunt of Julia and Patrick.
Julia Simmons (20s-30s) A young pharmacy student, staying with her aunt Letitia, constantly fighting with her brother Patrick. (Brief onstage intimacy)
Patrick Simmons (20s-30s) Also in college/graduate school, staying with his aunt Letitia, constantly provoking his sister Julia. (Brief onstage intimacy)
Dora Bunner (50s-70s) Letitia's friend and boarder, could've been the 5th Golden Girl in another lifetime, knows how to have a good time.
Mitzi (any age, fluency in Hungarian, Romanian, or Bulgarian preferred) Long suffering boarding house cook, will speak several lines in her preferred fluent language, some onstage slapstick.
Phillipa Haymes (30s-40s) Poised and elegant, a widow of WWII with a young son.
Mrs. Swettenham (50s-70s) Easily flustered and slightly nosy newcomer to the small English town.
Edmund Swettenham (30s-40s) Mrs. Swettenham's son, artsy writerly fellow, a "performative male" of the post-war era, if you will.
Rudi Scherz (any age, Swiss accent) A most unfortunate Swiss would-be robber. (Violence choreography) (This role will be combined with Sergeant Mellors.)
Inspector Craddock (40s-70s) Very by-the-book cop investigating the murder, no sense of humor whatsoever.
Sergeant Mellors (20s-40s) Craddock's bumbling assistant (This role will be combined with Rudi Scherz.)
