Everyone knows Hal’s been in a bit of a slump since his ex dumped him three months ago – but his roommate Eli has the perfect plan to pull him out of it! Meanwhile, everyone knows Bev’s been in a bit of a slump since her ex dumped her three months ago – but her roommate Kaycee has the perfect plan to pull her out of it! Can a blind date restore Hal and Bev to their former glory?

THE REBOUND is a satirical dark comedy by Annalise Cain, directed by Jack William Rodgers. This play is being produced by Red Theater as the next installment of their Fuck Around Series.
Submissions will be accepted until August 19 at 11:59 PM.
**This play includes a brief depiction of sexual intimacy and violence. Actors will work with an intimacy coordinator in the staging of the scene.**
Material to Prepare:
Please submit a short (no longer than 2-3 minutes) contemporary comedic monologue. Video submissions along with a headshot and resume can be sent to TheRebound2025Casting@yahoo.com.
Callbacks will consist of readings from the script with the actors playing Eli and Kaycee. Additionally, actors called back for the role of Bev will be asked to bring in a short (one verse/chorus or around one minute, whatever works best for you) piece from a rap song of their choice. Callbacks will take place in person at The Hearth (1020 W Bryn Mawr) on Saturday, August 23.
Time Commitment:
Rehearsals will begin the week of September 29 with specific dates settled among the cast after reviewing everyone’s availability.
Performances to take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from November 7-23 (no show on November 15) at Red Theater’s rehearsal and performance space, The Hearth, at 1020 W Bryn Mawr Ave in Edgewater.
Character Type/Restrictions:
All characters are 22 and hate themselves (actors of all ages are invited to audition)

- Hal: Hal is the only quiet, gentle, and kind frat guy who has ever lived. He’s currently in a rut following his break-up with his college girlfriend Emily and is having difficulty getting over her. He might be going through a quarter life crisis.
- Bev: Bev is a True Romantic who is demanding to know: why are there no decent men left in Manhattan?? She loves Jewel. She’s a little bit of a klutz. She’s maybe trying just a little too hard.
- **Eli: If Hal is the only quiet, gentle, and kind frat guy who has ever lived, Eli is about a polar south from that. When Eli walks into the room, everyone knows it (because the bass sting that plays when he Kramers into a room is too damn catchy to ignore). Eli is Hal’s roommate, is dating Kaycee, and knows for a damn ass FACT that this date is gonna go perfectly.
- **Kaycee: Bev’s roommate and Eli’s girlfriend, Kaycee knows better than anyone that Hal and Bev have a real shot at making this thing work (as long as everyone does exactly as she says). At her core, Kaycee BELIEVES in people and that is what makes her so beautiful!! Also, it is absolutely not her fault that she was born rich, so please stop acting like it is.
