PrideArts is thrilled to present the queer version of Constellations by Nick Payne, directed by Jay Españo. We are seeking 2 pairs of actors to play the roles of Manuel and Roland / Marianne and Rona. Each performance will feature a different pair of actors in the lead roles.
You will be provided with an audition date and time once we receive your headshot and resume.
This play includes discussion of terminal illness and medical aid in dying, strong language, discussion of sex, physical intimacy, and relationship violence. We will have an intimacy coordinator and do everything we can to maintain actor and staff safety and comfort.
As the play is set somewhere in the UK, PrideArts will provide a dialect coach.
A physicist meets a beekeeper at a party. They hit it off … or perhaps they don’t. One of them is married … or maybe they’re both single. Constellations takes this chance encounter between two lost souls and opens the door to the infinite possibilities of their relationship through the lens of quantum mechanics. Its compelling structure presents short, repeating scenes with subtle variations, allowing the audience to witness how the tiniest change in the details of our lives can lead to vastly altered outcomes, prompting reflection on the myriad possibilities of life. Beyond its intellectual curiosity, the play is a profoundly human story of love, intimacy, heartbreak, and resilience with pure honesty and tender humor that challenges us to consider the value of human connection within an infinite multiverse.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals start Jan 5, 2026. Show runs February 6 - March 1. Thursdays and Fridays at 730p, Saturdays and Sundays 3p and 730p. Please note that the run schedule is subject to change.
Character Type/Restrictions:
Marianne/Manuel (30’s-50’s, any race) – A quantum physicist fascinated by science and the concept of the multiverse universe. Marianne/Manuel is highly intellectual and often explores the many questions of the multiverse. Marianne/Manuel is a strong, good humored and enthusiastic person and looks at life in a different way than others (not everyone has the depth of knowledge to be on this wavelength). They are a person of reason, who prefers to rely on intellect and science instead of letting go and getting emotionally involved.
Rona/Roland (30’s-50’s, any race) – An easy-going, kind-hearted and charming beekeeper. Very likeable, earnest, and good-humored. Rona/Roland is more constant, grounded and emotionally given than Marianne/Manuel and more willing to be open about how they feel and free to give and receive love.
