In 1665 the plague brought London to its knees. The Living tells the story of Londoners who remained in the city as they struggled to find meaning in the midst of the catastrophic epidemic.

Recording for some if not all of the reading will take place at Oakton Community College if COVID restrictions permit.

This recording will be streamed online.

Interested actor’s must be willing and able to record with other actors at Oakton. Safe distancing and masks are mandatory.

Please send a one-minute recording of a performed monologue, or a passage that is read as a Youtube link or an MP4 file to tcurtis@oakton.edu between Friday, Sept. 18 and Monday, Sept. 21. Include “The Living audition” in the subject line of email.
Accents or dialects are not required. However, feel free to use one if you can do a London or British accent.

There will be a call-back Zoom session on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at various times between 6 and 9:30 p.m. Actors will be notified via email if they are called back and given a short passage from the play to read, as well as a Zoom invite.

Rehearsals will begin (online via Zoom) the week of Oct. 5. Each rehearsal is three hours (two to three days a week). The Living will be recorded in late October.

·       Mrs. Elizabeth Finch:  40 + a searcher of the dead (F)

·       Dr Edward Harman, 30’s; a physician (M)

·       Sir John Lawrence, 45 +; Lord Mayor, a merchant

·       Lord Brounker, 50 +, a cavalier

·       Rev, Doctor Thomas Vincent 30’s a non-conformist minister

Necessary stage directions and important passages will be divided between all the actors.
