Northbrook Theatre is seeking six adventurous and enthusiastic actors for an upcoming production of Toddler Hiking Club: An Imaginative Nature Walk. An interactive dramatic experience for children and adult companions that takes place in Northbrookâs Techny Prairie Park.
We seek a diverse ensemble of performers, including at least two who play a mobile instrument (guitar, ukulele, mandolin, etc.). Ideal candidates are collaborative, adventurous, and interested in non-traditional children’s theatre. As toddlers and caregivers follow the Trail Guides, the ensemble will share performances, poems, and music along the path. Experience or interest in working with young children, teaching, or devising is preferred but not required. Performers should be comfortable with close interaction and improvisation with children and families. We are also casting an understudy/swing for this production.
Material to Prepare:
1) Please record a 1-minute performance of something that shows us who you are! It can be a song, a poem, a story, a creative drama game, a puppet show, a joke, anything. Dialogue in this show is minimal for most roles; we just want a chance to see you and get a sense of who you are. Feel free to play around and have fun with it.
2) If you play an instrument, please record a 1-2 minute song of one of your favorite songs.
3) Optional: If you have any special physical skills, we'd also like to see them. Juggling, stilts, acrobatics, specific types of dance, etc. If you have existing footage, please send link(s). If not, you can record a short demonstration if possible.
Video quality is not important, but please be sure to place the camera far enough away so we can see your physicality. Please submit materials in an unlisted YouTube link.

Performances Begin July 19-August 10 2025 (Daytime Performances)
