Montana Shakespeare in the Parks (MSIP) will be holding auditions for its 2026 season and is seeking non-union actors for three unique touring programs: Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Shakespeare in the Schools (SIS), and Montana Shakes! MSIP offers competitive salaries, housing, and per diem while on tour.

ABOUT MONTANA SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS’ PROGRAMS:

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks employs 11 actors for a 17-week summer season that includes rehearsals and a multi-state tour across Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota and Washington. Two plays rehearse for six weeks starting in mid-May and then tour the region for an eleven-week period ending in mid-September. The 2026 season will present Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING directed by Johamy Morales and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE directed by MSIP Executive Artistic Director Kevin Asselin.

Shakespeare in the Schools employs 8 actors for a 13-week fall season that includes rehearsals and a multi-state tour in Montana and Wyoming. We are particularly looking for actor educators who have the experience, interest, and ability to be effective teachers as well as actors.  The play rehearses for 3 weeks starting in mid-September and then tours the region for a 10 week period ending in mid-December. The 2026 season will present THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by MSIP Executive Artistic Director Kevin Asselin.

Montana Shakes! employs 4 actors for a 14-week spring season that includes rehearsals and a multi-state tour in Montana and Wyoming. We are particularly looking for actor educators who have the experience, interest, and ability to be effective teachers as well as actors. The play rehearses for 2-weeks starting in January and then tours the region for a 12-week period ending in mid-April. The 2026 season will present GOOD IN EVERYTHING, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Matt Foss.

MSIP is committed to diversity and seeks to promote a positive model of inclusion. We encourage performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, service in the uniformed services, and veteran status to apply.

Material to Prepare:

To be considered for an audition, please email your headshot and resume (including a teaching resume if you have one) to msipproductionmanager@gmail.com by Monday, December 1st, 2025. If chosen, an MSIP representative will contact you directly to schedule your audition.

If you are selected for an audition, please prepare two contrasting Shakespeare monologues (combined, not exceed 3 minutes in total). Additionally, please bring two headshots, two acting resumes (also, teaching resumes if you have one), and an instrument (no ukulele or piano) - if you plan to add music to your audition it still should not exceed 3 minutes. Ability to sing or play musical instruments is highly desired. Our SIS tours are particularly interested in hiring actors with an interest and ability to be effective teaching artists, as well as actors.

We will consider self-taped auditions, though live auditions are always preferable. If sharing a self tape, you must post your audition to YouTube and provide us with a link (please select “unlisted” as your sharing preference). The deadline for recorded submissions is December 5th with decisions on hiring following live auditions.
