Metropolis Performing Arts Center is seeking main cast and understudies for our upcoming Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production of A Christmas Carol, directed by Cory Goodrich.

All rehearsals and performances will take place at Metropolis Performing Arts Center, 111 W Campbell St Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
Rates & Schedule:
Cast Rate: Principals $700 rehearsal stipend, $70 per show; Ensemble $600 rehearsal stipend, $60 per show; Youth Performers $400 rehearsal stipend, $40 per show (double cast)

1st day of Rehearsal: Sunday November 1st, 2026
Rehearsals will generally be Sundays 5p – 9p, Mondays – Thursdays 6p – 10p
TECH: Please note that call times are subject to change.
Tech rehearsals:
November 30th 12p – 10p
December 1st 12p – 10p
December 2nd 12p – 10p
Opening: December 3rd
Closing: December 24th
Please note that while performances will primarily be 10am or 12:30pm matinees, we have a select number of evening performances for this show.

2. Please sing a selection from any holiday song of your choice (1 min or less), either a cappella or self-accompany on an instrument if you are able to do so! Please know that some roles will not require singing -- just do your best here and have fun.
Character Type/Restrictions:
Casting Note: While the characters in the show are written with specific pronouns or gender identities in mind, we are open and welcome actors of all genders to submit for the role(s) that you feel most called to. We highly encourage actors of color and queer and trans actors to submit.
Fan – This role has been cast (Female Identifying, 30’s) Scrooge’s sister, she narrates the story. She loves her brother deeply and is trying to save his soul with this grand gesture.
Scrooge (Male Identifying, to play 40’s-50’s) the main character of the story. A miserly money lender who has lost his humanity.
Marley (Male Identifying, to play 40’s-50’s) Scrooge’s deceased business partner and the first ghost that Scrooge encounters. He urges Scrooge to change his ways. This track includes Fezziwig (Scrooge’s jovial former employer) and Old Joe (deals in stolen goods)
Bob Cratchit (Male Identifying, 30’s) Scrooge’s employee and father of Tiny Tim. He and his wife are loving parents who struggle financially. This track also plays ensemble parts.
Christmas Present/Mrs. Fezziwig (Female Identifying, 20-40’s) This track also plays ensemble parts.
Christmas Past/Martha Cratchit/Turkey Boy (Female Identifying, Youth Performer, or adult to play a child)
Peter Cratchit – This role has been cast (Male Identifying adult to play a child) this track also plays young Scrooge and ensemble, musician preferred.
Tiny Tim / Young Fan (Female Identifying, Youth Performer) Bob Cratchit’s youngest son, this track also plays Young Fan, and ensemble parts.
Belle/Char Woman (Female Identifying, 20’s) Belle is Scrooge’s former fiance, this track plays ensemble parts.
Mrs. Cratchit/Laundress (Female Identifying-30’s) Bob’s wife, this track also plays Mrs. Dilber Scrooge’s laundress.
Fred – This role has been cast (Male Identifying, 20’s-30’s) Scrooge's nephew who loves both his uncle and Christmas. This track also plays ensemble parts.
