MadKap Productions  is pleased to announce that we are casting the first show in our 2020-2021 Subscription Series.

Something’s Afoot is a musical that spoofs detective stories, mainly the works of Agatha Christie, and especially her detective novel And Then There Were None. The book, music, and lyrics were written by James McDonald, David Vos, and Robert Gerlach, with additional music by Ed Linderman. The musical involves a group of people who are invited to the lake estate of Lord Dudley Rancour. When the wealthy lord is found dead, it’s a race against the clock to find out who is the murderer.

We are casting the following roles:

·         Lettie – “The saucy maid” – Mezzo-Soprano (should be able to move)

·         Flint – “The caretaker” – Tenor

·         Clive – “The fussy butler” – Baritone

·         Hope Langdon – “The Ingenue”  – Soprano

·         Dr. Grayburn – “The family doctor” – Baritone

·         Nigel Rancour – “The black sheep nephew” – Tenor

·         Lady Grace Manley-Prowe – “The Grande Dame” – Mezzo-Soprano

·         Colonel Gillweather – “The old army man” – Baritone

·         Geoffrey – “The juvenile; the uninvited guest” – Tenor

The role of “Miss Tweed”, the amateur detective, has been cast.

Auditions will be held on Sunday February 23 and Monday February 24 with CallBacks on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.  All auditions will take place from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Please come prepared to sing 16 measures of a Broadway Musical-styled tune.

Auditions will be held at the Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Avenue in downtown Skokie.  The theatre is within walking distance of the CTA Yellow Line/Oakton Street exit and can be reached via the # 97 bus.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals will begin mid-late May. Production opens July 10, 2020 and runs thru Sunday, August 2, 2020 with a possible one week extension.
