MadKap Productions is seeking actors, singers, players and dancers for its production of Pippin, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwarz and book by Roger O. Hirson

Pippin is the story of a young boy taking the long journey of life in his quest for meaning and purpose.

 

 

1.   If you have never worked for MadKap in the past, please prepare a video of approximately 32 bars showing two different sides of your voice and your personality. Send it to wendy@madkapproduction.com.  Tell me what role you are interested in or if you’ll take “any”.

Callbacks will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at St. Paul’s Church which is around the corner from the theatre.

 

Production Dates:  September 5, 2025 – September 28 , 2025 Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:00 pm with 1 Wednesday matinee TBD Total – 13 performances

We are located at 7924 Lincoln Ave in downtown Skokie, near the S.W. corner of Lincoln and Oakton.  We are 1/2 mile west of the Oakton Yellow Line, and easy to reach through several Pace bus routes including #210, #225, #226, #290, and #413.

 

Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the theatre.

2 songs of differing styles - 32 bars each

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals will be 4 nights per week beginning after 7/18/25.
Show dates: 9/5/25 - 9/28/25 Fri, Sat at 7:30 Sun at 2pm and 1 Wed Mat

Character Descriptions:

Baron (M): A member of Charles’ nobility.

Berthe (F): CAST

Catherine (F): A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him. Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: Db5, Vocal range bottom: F#3

Charles (M): Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. Age: 50 to 60 Vocal range top: E4,Vocal range bottom: G2

Fastrada (F): Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son. Age: 35 to 45 Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: A3

Female Courtier (F): A female member of Charles’ Royal Court. Girls 1-6/8 (F): They’re the “with you” ladies from our show. Head (M): A severed head that speaks to Pippin following the battle.

Leading Player (F/M): The ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience. Vocal range top: Ab4, Vocal range bottom: Db3 Lewis (M): Pippin’s half-brother. He loves the limelight.

Male Courtier (M): A male member of Charles’ Royal Court. Monks 1-3 (M): They’re employed in the chapel by Arles.
