This is a Non-Equity Workshop with a final presentation slated for Early October (exact dates TBD). This is a PAID OPPORTUNITY! $100 stipend, to be paid at the end of the workshop. Your self tape will qualify as your audition. Submissions close at 11:59pm September 5th.
Synopsis-
Sweet and bubbly homosexual Angel Cake has had five… no wait six… no wait seven… no wait – HOW many concussions has she had now? Well, she just got another one. In a whirlwind of romance, she faints during a passionate kiss with her newfound butch lover Lou, hitting her head on the ground with a THUD! #Relatable! But now, she’s stuck in the Non-Wichita Rural Kansas State Hospital, and her life is in shambles. Her main problem? She’s closeted. And her stormy Mother is bound to tear through, potentially twisting Angel’s almost happy life into ruins. Join Lou, Angel Cake’s loyal yet tough best friend Ruby, and one really loud nurse as they fight to protect Angel Cake’s life from utter catastrophe.
This play begs the question: Don’t we all act a little concussed in love?

Rehearsal will be every Tues, Wed, Thurs night (7:30pm-10:30pm) from September 8th to October 8th.

Character Type/Restrictions:
MOTHER: 50s. She is the mother of Angel Cake, and was born and raised in Atwood, Kansas. She took over her late husband’s general store when he passed. An isolated widow who lives in grief. She is intense, self-righteous, wounding, and loving.
Seeking 30+ year old, woman or nonbinary actor (any race) to play cis woman.
