Invictus Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof written by Tenessee Williams and directed by Charles Askenaizer. This is a non-union production.

Material to Prepare:

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals: January 10th - February 9th (Sat/Sun 10-4pm, MTW 6-10pm)
Tech: February 12th - 15th (ThF 6-11pm, Sat/Sun 10am-8pm)
Dress Rehearsal - February 16th 6pm CALL, 7pm GO
Previews: February 17th, 20th, 21st, 22nd (Tues 7pm, Fri 7pm, Sat 1pm/7pm, Sun 2pm)
Understudy Rehearsals: TBD
Opening: February 23rd 7pm
Run: February 27th - March 22nd (Fri/Mon 7pm, Sat 1pm/7pm, Sun 1pm)
Possible Extension: March 23rd - April 4th + Thurs April 2nd 7pm (Fri/Mon 7pm, Sat 1pm/7pm, Sun 1pm)

Character Type/Restrictions:
Please note that the genders listed are those of the characters and not necessarily reflective of the actor portraying the role. All roles are open to all ethnicities. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof contains scenes of intimacy; with partial nudity from Brick and Margaret. As such, all actors considered for Brick and Margaret must be at least 18 years of age. This show deals with homophobia, racism, alcoholism,substance abuse, and sexual content. Invictus Theatre is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for all involved. Jay Donley of Violent Delights will be the violence and intimacy choreographer for this production.
Margaret (Female identifying, Late 20’s to mid 30’s) The proverbial cat on a hot tin roof. High strung, sensual, and ambitious. Desperately fighting to inherit the Pollitt estate and win back her husband, Brick’s love. *This role includes partial nudity, MUST be at least 18 years of age.
Brick (Male identifying, Late 20’s to mid 30’s) Former athlete, currently an alcoholic. Broke his ankle trying to run hurdles the night before. Searching for “the click” and haunted by the death of his friend Skipper. *This role includes partial nudity, MUST be at least 18 years of age.
Mae (Female identifying, late 20’s to mid 30’s) A debutante. Calculating. Fighting to inherit the Pollitt estate with her husband Gooper.
Big Mama (Female identifying, 50’s to 60’s) Highly sensitive and loud. A domineering but sincere and devoted woman. Big feelings.
Big Daddy (Male identifying, Late 50’s to mid 60’s) Force of nature patriarch of the family. Play takes place on his birthday. Given positive medical news despite struggling with his health.
Reverend Tooker (Male identifying, 40’s to 70’s) Hypocritical, tactless, and opportunistic. Wanting a portion of the Pollitt estate.
Gooper (Male identifying, mid 30’s to 40’s) Older brother of Brick. A lawyer. Unloved by his father Big Daddy. Seeking the inheritance of the Pollitt estate after his father dies.
Doctor Baugh (Male identifying, 40’s to 70’s) A doctor caught up in the fireworks of the Pollitt family. Discreet and professional.
Dixie (Female identifying, 8-13 yrs old) Obnoxious child of Mae and Gooper
Buster (Male identifying, 8-13 years old) Obnoxious child of Mae and Gooper
Sonny (Male identifying 8-13 years old) Obnoxious child of Mae and Gooper
Trixie (Female identifying, 8-13 years old) Obnoxious child of Mae and Gooper
