Idle Muse Theatre Company is seeking submissions for THE THREE MUSKETEERS by Robert Kauzlaric, adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, and directed by Evan Jackson, which will be performed this Spring at The Edge Off Broadway Theater in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago.

Based on the celebrated 1844 novel, Jeff Award-winning playwright Robert Kauzlaric adapts the classic tale of swashbuckling intrigue, witty romance, and indomitable fellowship as newly-minted musketeer D’Artagnan and the famous “three inseparables,” Athos, Porthos and Aramis, take on the machinations of a scheming cardinal and his agents.

Please submit headshot and resume to submissions@idlemuse.org as PDF or Word Doc.

  • Audition Dates: November 15 & 16
  • Callbacks: November 22 & 23

Special Notes:

The production team will include both an Intimacy Director and Violence Director and the presentation of the play will include moments of staged intimacy and violence.

Moments of intimacy currently planned include period-appropriate displays of public affection and seduction scenes, some of which include staged kisses between characters. Additionally, the text includes multiple scenes of brawling, warfare, and dueling, which result in the wounding and death of characters by dagger, sword, or gunfire.

Actors of Color strongly encouraged to submit for all roles.

Compensation:

There is a base stipend of $100 for all roles. In addition to the base stipend, Idle Muse operates under shareholder model, in which a full 50% of box office revenue is reserved and divided evenly among the cast and production team.

Idle Muse is an all-volunteer theater collective with company funds dedicated only to production costs. No funds are reserved for leadership or staff salaries, which are also volunteer positions.
