Idle Muse Theatre Company is seeking submissions for Equivocation by Bill Cain, which will be performed at The Edge Off Broadway Theater in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago.

Synopsis:
In the wake of the failed Gunpowder Plot to assassinate King James I and Parliament, William Shagspeare is commissioned by the powerful Lord Robert Cecil to write the “true historie” of the plot to be performed by the King’s Men acting company. As they work to discover the truth behind the conspiracy, how far are they willing to go for each other and to speak truth to power?

SHAG – William Shakespeare, at the time of the play he is 42
RICHARD – the famous Elizabethan/Jacobean actor, Richard Burbage. At the time of the play he is 39 (this part plays additional roles)
SHARPE – an Elizabethan/Jacobean actor, 20’s (plays additional roles)
NATE – an Elizabethan/Jacobean actor (plays additional roles)
ARMIN – an Elizabethan/Jacobean actor (plays additional roles)
JUDITH – the daughter of William Shakespeare, at the time of the play she is 21
