Hell in a Handbag Productions is seeking a couple of understudies for their upcoming show, Scary Town, a funny and dark adult children’s play about growing up in a storybook town and family secrets.
This is a dark comedy. Think Richard Scarry children’s books with familial trauma.
Seeking actors that can start immediately.

We ask that understudies attend all dress and tech rehearsals if possible and one show a week once we open.
Rehearsals are currently in progress until- April 8, Monday- Thursday and Saturdays
Tech/Dress- April 5-8
Previews: April 9, 10, 11
Opens: April 12
Runs: April 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11
Closes: May 11
Possible ext til May 15, 16, 17, 18
*Rehearsals generally run Mon- Thursday 7-10, Saturday 12-4

Mrs. Betty Bunny- Overworked and overwhelmed bunny mother who does her best to maintain the household. Lately she's at her wit's end with her moody oldest teenage son- so what is she like a few glasses of wine every now and then! 30-40
Penelope Porcupine- Looking for a 20-30 actor. Penelope is a goth, (12, going on 40) tween who is 'over' everything and can't believe she's stuck in this hick town. Luckily she has her good friends Deven Bunny and Willie the Worm to commiserate with!
