AUDITION OPTIONS:
Option 1: Attend the in person auditions held on November 19th. Auditions will take place in Governors State University’s Sherman Hall.
Option 2: Auditionees can send a self-tape with the audition preparation requirements to the Production Manager at scorum@govst.edu. The due date for self-tape audition submissions is November 17th, 2025.
About The Show:
By The Way, Meet Vera Stark is a seventy-year journey through the life of Vera Stark, a headstrong African-American maid and budding actress, and her tangled relationship with her boss, a white Hollywood star desperately grasping to hold on to her career. When circumstances collide and both women land roles in the same Southern epic, the story behind the cameras leaves Vera with a surprising and controversial legacy scholars will debate for years to come.
About the Production:
This is a live production in front of an audience. All rehearsals will be held on campus with most occurring in Sherman Hall.
Material to Prepare:
Auditionees should prepare memorized one contemporary dramatic and one contemporary comedic monologue, each no longer than 2 minutes.
Character Type/Restrictions:
Casting versatile, high-energy performers/storytellers passionate about creating social change through art. Auditions are open to students and non-students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Previous theatre experience is not necessary.
