In the Continuum puts a human face on the devastating impact of AIDS in Africa and America through the lives of two unforgettably courageous women. Living worlds apart, one in South Central LA and the other in Zimbabwe, each experiences a kaleidoscopic weekend of life-changing revelations in this story of parallel denials and self-discoveries.
Material to Prepare:
Submit a headshot and resume. For the Video Audition prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue and 8-16 bars of a classical or contemporary song. Sides from the play will be assigned for the callback audition.
Time Commitment:
Rehearsals M-F 6/29 - 7/17 Evenings
Tech Week: 7/19 - 24 Evenings
Performance Dates: 7/25 - 8/9 (Performances Sat 7pm - Sun 3pm)
Character Type/Restrictions:
Black Female, aged 19 to mid-20s. Seeking a strong actor and capable singer with comfort in movement to portray a 19-year-old woman from South Central Los Angeles. The role is one of two female characters in the production; both characters discover they are HIV-positive and must navigate associated stigmas, relationships, and survival. The production is moving, witty, and "powerfully funny."
The woman from Zimbabwe has been cast.
