Filament Theatre seeks non-equity performers to understudy the below roles for their upcoming production of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, adapted by Dwayne Hartford from the beloved book by Kate DiCamillo. Preference will be given to actors who can cover both parts.

The Musician (m, any ethnicity)
Portrays the inner thoughts and emotions of Edward Tulane, a china rabbit. Must play guitar and/or Mandolin. Actor must be able to portray a powerful emotional journey from arrogance, self-centeredness and petulance, to vulnerability, honesty, and deep love of others.
The Man (m, actor of color)
Portrays many characters, ranging in age from 11-70+. Must be adept with dialects. Musical ability a plus. Actor must be grounded and generous, with ability to create a wide range of distinct, truthful, vulnerable characters quickly and believably. Characters include: Abilene’s Father, Bull the Hobo, Bryce (the wise-beyond-his-years 11 year old brother to ill Sarah Ruth).
