Personnel:

North American Director for RAIN, Ellie Levine

About RAIN:

A North American reproduction of the Australian-based installation experience for the very very young. Co-produced in collaboration with Threshold, an Australian Theatre Company for the very young, Rain is an immersive multi-sensory relational experience. Created for 10 babies at a time 0-crawling age and their carers. While this contract is for the sit down of RAIN in Filament’s space the ultimate intention is to tour the production nationally in the future.

A trio of performer-facilitators through cello, voice, and movement act as gentle guides in a brand-new world of surprise, delight, and opportunities for connection through sound, touch, and performance. RAIN is a mesmerising & intimate sensory experience for babies exploring the wonders of rain.

Seeking:

ONE cellist (advanced) – open gender/open ethnicity/open age. The cellist accompanies the two facilitators; and is the heartbeat of the experience, setting the tone for the world, and stewarding the pace of the performance through music. The cellist should be apt at performing classical music and  feel at ease with some improvisation.

Please note: RAIN is a scripted work with set musical material. While the performers’ presence and attunement to families is central, the shape and rhythm of the performance are clearly structured.

In addition, Cellist auditionees will be asked to participate in an hour-long workshop led by the production’s director. Cellists will work alongside the facilitator auditionees, and be asked to participate in the workshop through music – improvising and underscoring the movement of the small groups.
