Fat Theatre Project seeks actor submissions for Fat Notes: A Fairytale Cabaret! Fat Notes is a new musical cabaret series helmed by Melody DeRogatis. If you are not available for this current series, please submit and note your interest in being cast for future Fat Notes performances!
Fat Notes: A Fairytale Cabaret is a musical theatre cabaret celebrating fatness and anthems that bring us joy! Come join Fat Theatre Project performers as they bring to life songs from your favorite princesses, villains, and beyond! Think Disney or fairytale or a classic I WANT song.
For this iteration of Fat Notes, each performer will singing 1 song of their choice within the genre. Depending on participating number and interest, we may build to actors singing 2 songs. Actors will learn the music on their own and we’ll either coordinate a rehearsal around actor availability or review cabaret performances asynchronously prior to the performances. Please have a reason or short anecdote on why you picked the song. Rehearsals will be scheduled performer availability.
Performances:
Dorothy Downstairs – 2500 W Chicago Ave (September 2 at 7pm, call time 6:00pm)
Chicago Live! at Navy Pier (September 19 at 2:30pm, call time 1pm)
Dorothy’s will be a 60-90 minute, more traditional cabaret-structure. The Chicago Live! performance is only a 20-minute slot– so it may feature less (or shorter) numbers. Everyone will receive a minimum of a $50 stipend for their participation.
Please prepare a video of you singing a Musical Theatre song about 30-60 seconds in length. Your audition song and your cabaret song don’t have to be the same!
