On the surface, Michael and Eden are a solid pair with a bright future. When their beloved Rottweiler, Jock, grows unexpectedly violent—killing the neighbors’ toy poodle—Michael and Eden must confront darker truths in their relationship that have been ignored for too long.
Material to Prepare:
Please prepare 1 contemporary monologue, a maximum of 2 minutes in length. You can submit a virtual audition through the form if you are unable to attend in person.
Time Commitment:
Rehearsals: Sunday-Thursday, May 3rd - May 24th (Mondays - Thursdays 6pm-10pm, Sundays 2pm-6pm)
Tech Week: May 25-28, 6pm-11pm
Performances: May 29 - June 14 (Thursday - Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2:30pm. One Saturday Matinee (May 30) at 2:30pm)
All rehearsals and performances will take place at the GREENHOUSE THEATER CENTER.
Character Type/Restrictions:
MICHAEL - He/him. Dating Eden, lives with her but not married. Picked out Jock from the shelter. HATES conflict. Self-described people pleaser and a bad listener. Has never been in a real fight.
EDEN - She/her. Dating Michael, lives with him but not married. Didn’t really want Jock but sometimes you have to acquiesce. Always has to pick up the pieces. Prefers a blazer over a dress. Headstrong and stubborn in a good way.
BILL - He/him. Married to Nicole. Huge dog guy. Didn’t want a “girly dog” but grew to love him like his own kid. A bruiser in a tie. An alcoholic, but it’s “not a big deal”. Charming until you look too closely.
NICOLE - She/her. Married to Bill. Picked out their dog from the shelter. Wears her emotions on her sleeve, but never really figured out how to let loose. Bakes cookies to welcome people to the neighborhood. Loves her husband but sometimes he just really fucking pisses her off
All Characters are in their late 20’s / early 30’s and can be played by actors of any ethnicity.
