for the upcoming generation of theater makers and theatergoers
SYNOPSIS: Freddie follows three teenage girls as they work at a kids’ gym in Texas. Lila and Ruby, high school seniors and estranged friends, come together to show Gia, a homeschooled freshman, what being a teenager is all about. Their secret mission, however, uncovers the origins of their broken friendship and Lila’s disappearance from school. This play examines young, female friendships, neurodivergency, and grief in a place where the three girls are being trusted to take care of children like adults.
REHEARSALS: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM, Lakeview, starting 9/8
PERFORMANCES: November 6-7 and 13-14, site-specific location TBA
COMPENSATION: $200 stipend
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
RUBY, 18, she/her, Latiné descent, the Carly type, stubborn rule follower
LILA, 18, she/her, white or white-passing, the Sam type, she’s a bit of a rebel with a secret
GIA, 15, she/her, not of East Asian descent, neurodivergent, the Freddie type but way less tech-savvy
