Overview

Pay Rate: $100 rehearsal stipend, plus $20 per performance (23 performances); total compensation $560.
Audition Date and Time: Saturday, October 16 from noon until 5:00, and Sunday, October 17 from 3:15 until 6:00.

Five-minute appointment.  Reading from script side provided in advance.

Material to Prepare:

Sides will be provided in advance. No memorization.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals begin on or about November 6. Monday-Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons.

Ample time off for Thanksgiving and December holidays. First preview January 7. Press opening January 16. Closing February 20. Performances Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday afternoons, plus two Monday evening performances.

Character Type/Restrictions:

COWBOYS:

The Virginian:  Late 20s, man of few words.  Looking to cast Hispanic or Asian-American actor.

Steve:  Late 20s, honest but unpolished.  Looking to cast Hispanic or Asian-American actor.

Scipio:  Late 20s, tough and smart but gossipy.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.

Nebrasky: Late 20s, stalwart.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.

Honey-Wiggin:  Late 20s, the friendliest of the cowboys.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.

Chalkeye: Late 20s, solid but sometimes impatient.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.

(Ideally, one of the following would be able to play the harmonica:  Scipio, Nebrasky, Honey-Wiggin, Chalkeye.  Not a dealbreaker either way.)

NON-COWBOYS:

KRISTA THE BARMAID:  30-ish, outspoken.  Doubles with YOUNG BRIDE:  20s, more naive than Krista.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.

MRS. TAYLOR:  40s, beloved and respected matron of the ranch, somewhat earthy.  Looking to cast BIPOC actor.
