Announcing Non-Union General Auditions for CIRCA-Pintig’s upcoming mainstage productions and Chicago Filipino American Theatre Festival! Our non-equity general auditions are open to everyone, whether you are a seasoned performer or have always wanted to try it! If you are passionate about telling and amplifying Filipino, Asian American, and immigrant stories, we’d love to see you as our auditions will be open to all sizes, ethnicities, abilities, and gender identities. Filipino, Asian, and POC performers are encouraged to submit. A small stipend will be offered for all productions listed.

What to Prepare:

Actors will have 5 minutes in the room to present any of the following. We want to get to know you and your talents!

A contemporary monologue no more than 2 minutes in length
A short piece of your choosing that shows us who you are as a person and/or performer. Ideas include but are not limited to reciting a poem, performing a song, sharing a personal story…
Any other skill you’d like to share with us
If desired, cold read material will be available from our previous works

Chicago Filipino American Theatre Festival

SYNOPSIS:

The 3rd annual Chicago Filipino American Theatre Festival’s theme centers on Pasabog. A common slang term to express how show stopping, brilliant or extra someone or something. Featuring short plays, one acts, monologues, and excerpts from Filipino/Filipino-American playwrights and writers.

SYNOPSIS:

29 year old Filipino gay man drag queen Jomar decides to throw himself a Filipino “debut” traditionally celebrated when Filipina girls turn 18. His family does their best to make his debut perfect much to his demands, but ultimately celebrates the love he has received from his loved ones in order to love himself. Debut was previously read in the 2025 Chicago Filipino American Theatre Festival.

SEEKING main cast and understudy roles:

JOMAR: 29, Filipino. A New York City transplant going through an existential about his upcoming birthday / GLICERIA when in drag.
REGINO: 70’s, Filipino. Jomar’s father, practical and matter-of-fact, he’s learned to live life by enjoying the present moment.
GLORIA: 60’s, Filipino. Jomar’s mother, a recent retiree who has unexpectedly become a social media influencer.
YSABEL: 20’s, Filipino. Jomar's sister, a resident nurse who feels responsible for taking care of everything and everyone.
LOLA CORAZON: 40+, Filipino. Jomar’s late grandmother, a calming presence amid the chaos of planning his debut. Must be comfortable in speaking Tagalog.
ZACH: Mid-20’s, Open ethnicity. Jomar’s ex-boyfriend. A resident nurse and Ysabel’s colleague.

SYNOPSIS:

In this Filipino-American reimagining of Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie, memory clings to the walls of a home that holds everything but the truth. Within its rooms, a domineering mother, a haunted daughter, and a son with secrets wrestle with the cost of survival, the burden of dreams, and the ache passed down between generations.

DOLORES QUIROZ (The Mother): 50+, Female, Filipino. A single mother who immigrated to America, chasing the promise of a better life.
DOLORES "DIDI" QUIROZ (The Daughter): 30’s, Female, Filipino. A socially anxious woman stunted by her mother's control.
ROBERT "OBET" QUIROZ (The Son): 25, Male, Filipino. The narrator of the play.
NICO SANTANA (The Gentleman Caller): 30, Male, Filipino. A young man finding his way again.
