SYNOPSIS:
This is an intimate concert preview of Ludo’s Broken Bride, an expansion of the original concept album of the same name that follows one man’s epic, time-traveling journey from the Beginning of Time to the End of Time, all to save his true love’s life. This rock opera has it all – time-travel, dinos, zombies, and more!
PRODUCTION DETAILS:
Concert performances on 3/7 and 3/8 at 11a (doors 10:30a), House of Blues’ Backporch Stage. Rehearsals start on or around 2/27. All Positions Paid. (For leads and feat. ensemble min $300; for additional ensemble, min $150.)

THE TRAVELER (TOM – PRESENT)
Male-identifying, 30s-40s, Any ethnicity, Rock Tenor. A theoretical physicist worn from years of grieving, but has not processed his grief (…he will). Obsessive to a fault, a lost soul literally and figuratively. A bit neurotic, he is accidentally hurtled to the beginning of time by his time machine.
TOM (TOM – MEMORIES)
Male-identifying, 20s, Any ethnicity, Rock Tenor. The past-self of The Traveler, as seen in memories. A student of theoretical physics, daydreamer with a mind that’s never still… until Ori helps him find his center.
THE ANTICHRIST (KING SIMIUS; TOM – SPLINTERED FUTURE)
Male-identifying, 40s, Any ethnicity, Rock Tenor. Alternatively threatening and foppish, always ten steps ahead. Has not processed his grief and never will; he’s raising an army of dead while perfecting the science and manufacturing an entire apocalypse to control and consolidate resources in support of his goal.
THE BRIDE (ORIEL)
Female-identifying, 20s-30s, Any ethnicity, Mezzo-Belter. A plucky and present paleontologist, believes in living for the moment. Finds beauty in the balance of life and death. Marries Tom after a whirlwind of love at first sight and letters; loves him but struggles in marriage. Possibly double-tracked to The Boy.
THE CELESTIAL/ENSEMBLE
Female-identifying, Any Age, Any Ethnicity, Soprano or Contralto. An eternal being. Warm, curious, judicial. Always present, watching over the Traveler’s tale. To play Celestial and various ensemble. Strong puppeteering skills a plus but not required.
TBD FEATURED ENSEMBLE/KARL SCHWARZCHILD THE CAT
Female-Identifying, Any Age, Any Ethnicity, Soprano or Alto with Strong Characters. To play various creatures including Karl the Cat, Raptors, Pterodactyls – as well as Zombies/Human Ensemble. Featured soloist. Strong puppeteering skills a plus.
TBD FEATURED ENSEMBLE/DESDEMONA THE ZOMBIE KOMODO
Male-Identifying, Any Age. Any Ethnicity. Tenor or Baritone with Strong Characters. To play various creatures including Mena Desdemona the Zombie Komodo Dragon, Raptors, Pterodactyls – as well as Zombies/Human Ensemble. Featured soloist. Strong puppeteering skills a plus.
THE BOY (AMZI) (DOUBLE TRACKED ROLE)
Any Gender, Any age to play preteen, Mezzo-Belter or Tenor. Any ethnicity. A boy who has become a leader in the rebel faction against King Simius. Scrappy and resourceful. The son Tom and Ori never had.
ADDITIONAL ENSEMBLE
Any Identity. Any Age. Voices with a flair for early 2000’s alt rock.

If you don’t have a video on hand, a simple video shot on your phone or singing to a track is sufficient– we just want to see you!
Callbacks will be held by appointment on/about Feb 1st in Chicago. Location provided upon confirmation. An accompanist will be provided, no transposition. If invited, you’ll be asked to bring in a pop/alt rock or rock musical theater song of your choice, as well as learn material from the show.
You may be considered for a position without being able to attend in-person callbacks, although attendance is beneficial. However, all hires must be able to work as local to Chicago.
Material to Prepare:
For consideration: a video showcasing pop/alt rock or rock musical theater vocals. You do not need to make a new video to submit, and if you do, it can be a simple video from your phone or to a track. We just want to see you!
For callbacks: you'll be asked to bring in your best pop/alt rock or rock musical theater, and learn material from the show.
Time Commitment:
Approx. 25 hours including performances.
