Chicago's new horror theatre. Mysterious. Magical. Macabre.
We are excited to hold auditions for our upcoming production of The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide by Sean Graney.
Johnny wrote a play before he shot himself. He was in the fourth grade.
In Sean Graney’s The 4th Graders Present An Unnamed Love-Suicide, members of Johnny’s class take up his script and act out their own struggles with childhood bullying, body image, and the loss of innocence. The tragedy of Johnny’s death and his poetically troubling wishes for revenge make this provocative new play a poignant perspective on growing up, peer pressure, and self-worth.
A darkly comedic yet disturbing parable on the cycles of violence and what happens when children are left to their own devices. This play contains simulated violence, blood, depictions of suicide, and body shaming. Performers are welcome and encouraged to audition for any character regardless of gender identity/presentation.
