Pay Rate: $100 stipend

As part of their Black History Month programming, the Beverly Arts Center, located at 2407 W 111th Street in Chicago, is looking for  three (3) African American/Black actors for a virtual reading of a new one-act play by southside playwright, Hana L. Anderson and directed by A.D. Blakely. Actors will be paid a $100 stipend for this production.

Sincere Andersen ,Jr., “Junior”:  A 49 year old, mild-mannered African American man.

Grammy: A 97-year-old, African American, feisty and no-nonsense matriarch of the house.

Rita Densen:  A 45-year-old, African American, flirty homemaker with a past.

What to prepare:

A one-minute comic or dramatic monologue.

How to Submit:

Please submit resume, headshot via email to adblakely@gmail.com by Monday, February 11, 2020 at 6pm. The director will reach out to actors to schedule a virtual audition during the week of February 8-12, 2021. Virtual callbacks may be scheduled at an additional date. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Important dates:

Rehearsals will be held via Zoom the week of February 22, 2021. There will be no more than three (3) rehearsals.

The performance will be held via Zoom Webinar on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 7:30PM. There will be a talk-back with the audience following the performance in which actors are expected to participate. The talk-back will last no longer than 30 minutes.
