Babes With Blades Theatre Company looking for an East Asian actor in their mid-30s-40s, who is comfortable playing a cis-male role in their upcoming production of The Mark by Jillian Leff, directed by Richard Costes. The Mark by Jillian Leff
Developed through BWBTC’s Fighting Words program, The Mark centers in a dystopian, classist, society, where a young Laborer named Raina is given an unexpected chance to join The Army. As she starts to acclimate to her new position and higher standing in society, resistance is brewing among The Laborers. An assassination attempt upends Raina’ s life as she becomes caught in the middle of the war between the two classes, as well as her own battle of discovering who and what she believes in.

Time Commitment:
First Readthrough: August 17th
Rehearsals: August 18-September 27th
Tech / Previews: September 29-October 17
Performances: October 18-November 22nd
Rehearsal schedule: a 5-day work week with afternoon or evening rehearsals during the week, and daytime or evening rehearsals on Saturdays or Sundays.
Performance schedule: Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm.
Anticipated up to 20 hours of regular rehearsal per week over a 5-day work week.
Anticipated up to 30 hours of technical rehearsal over a 5-day work week.

In reference to the character description below-the characters we’re currently casting for is on the binary and is written with he/him pronouns. However limiting the description is, our casting seeks to be inclusive, and we invite gender non- conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to audition for the roles they most identify with.
