Seeking actors to participate in a workshop development process for Girls, girls, girls! by Aisha Hamid as a part of Avalanche Theatre’s Next Draft Series. The workshop will be directed by Alex Mallory.
In Girls, girls, girls!, five Pakistani girl-mothers in their late 60s go to group therapy for the first time in their lives. They play South Asian childhood games at a playground to connect with their inner child. This play is about women gathering to say the quiet things out loud and a collective mourning and celebration of girlhood, womanhood and motherhood. How do we continue to live when the most important parts of our lives are over? What do we do in the absence of the thing that defines us?
No formal acting training or experience is required. We are specifically seeking readers whose identity and experience is in line with the characters’ identities. We are seeking non-equity performers (SAG-AFTRA members are welcome.)
