Description: Fools of Sound and Fury seeks actors for its inaugural production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This production will be performed in partnership with churches and community spaces, with a focus on ensemble connection and responsive storytelling.

Material to Prepare:
Please submit headshot, resume, and two contrasting monologues of any length from any of Shakespeare's plays.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals begin: June 8, 2026
Rehearsals will be scheduled based on actor availability.
Performances:
July 17–18, 2026
August 7–8, 2026
Performances will take place in church/community venues in Chicagoland (specific locations TBD)

Seeking actors for all roles in Romeo and Juliet.
Fools of Sound and Fury is seeking actors who are excited to engage deeply with one another in a loving, thoughtful, and responsive way. As an inaugural production, the process will be in a stage of evolution. Flexibility, openness, and a willingness to take part in something from the ground up will facilitate a healthy process for all involved.
Fools of Sound and Fury works from a shared process built on five core principles:

Actors should expect:
Significant independent text work outside rehearsal
A rehearsal process focused on responsiveness rather than predetermined blocking
Ensemble-based work requiring sustained presence, attention, and collaboration
Performances that adapt to and engage directly with each unique space
