Bump in the Night Theatre, Chicago’s horror theatre, is excited to hold auditions for our upcoming production of Hookman by Lauren Yee. The show will run from May 15th-30th at Bramble Arts Loft.
Synopsis: Freshman year at college is hard when your roommate is weird, you’re feeling homesick, and a hook-handed serial killer is slashing girls’ throats. But if Lexi can discover what really happened to her high school best friend on that car ride to the movies, everything will be okay. In this existential slasher comedy, Lexi and her friends learn what it means to grow up – and it’s not pretty.

Virtual Submissions due by March 18th.
In person auditions will be held on March 18th at 7:00pm
Callbacks will be held March 21st 10am-12pm

Understudies will be used for this production. Understudies are offered one guaranteed performance.
There is a $200 stipend for this project.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals will be held from March 30th-May15th. Typically rehearsals will be held Mon-Wed evenings and Saturday Morning. Tech starts May 11th. Show opens May 15th and closes May 30th. 12 total performances.

Jess, 18, Freshman at UC Davis, Possible Lexi's best friend, Maternal
Yoonji, 18, Freshman at UConn, Lexi's roommate. Korean American. Passive Agressive
Chloe, 18, Freshman at UConn, Carries a large thermos of coffee. Thrilled to be alive
Kayleigh, 15*, Sophomore at West Porter High. On a quiet power trip.
Hookman, male, sketchy, has a hook for a hand, constantly looks hung over. The actor who plays Hookman also plays: Sean, 20, Junior at DePaul University, Plays intramural baseball, Maybe a rapist; and Adam, 21, Senior at UConn, Lexi's residential advisor. The local pot dealer.
*Due to the subject matter, all roles will be filled with adult actors.
This play contains simulated violence, blood, discussions of sexual assault and death.
