Music Theater Works is excited to receive general submissions for our upcoming show of Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville. The creative team consists of Brenda Didier (Director/Choreographer) and Linda Madonia (Music Director).The audition submissions open February 16-27, 2026. Please send all questions about casting to casting@musictheaterworks.org. We are looking forward to seeing your submissions! Callbacks will be March 24, 27 and a possible third day to be announced soon. (You may be called in for up to 3 callbacks.)
Material to Prepare:
Please send us a 30-45 second video of you singing music that is in the style of the show or from the show. If possible, please send us a dance reel as well. (All materials should be sent as an unlisted YouTube link)
Time Commitment:
PERIOD OF ENGAGEMENT for Production: ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE (2026)
Fittings/First Rehearsal: Sunday August 23rd
Spacing: Wednesday, September 30th
Tech Rehearsals: Thursday, October 1st, through Sunday, October 4th
Final Dress: Tuesday, October 6rd at 7:00pm
Preview with notes: Wednesday, October 7th at 2:00pm; and Thursday October 8th at 7:30pm
Understudy Rehearsal: Post Matinee on Wed 10/14
Performance: Fri 10/09 at 7:00pm; Sat 10/10 at 7:30pm; Sun 10/11 at 2:00pm
Wed 10/14 at 2:00pm; Fri 10/16 at 7:30pm; Sat 10/17 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm; Sun 10/18 at 2:00pm

Rehearsals are generally M-Th from 6:30-10:30 PM and Sun. 5-10 PM. Tech Schedule will start at 5:30 PM on weeknights and as early as 1:00 PM on Weekends.
No absences are allowed during Tech.
Character Type/Restrictions:
***PRINCIPAL ROLES***
Tully Mars– Male, 25–35, Baritone/Tenor (Bb2–C5) Handsome, easygoing, charming singer/guitarist at the Margaritaville Hotel. The ultimate island playboy, but with a good heart. Falls unexpectedly in love with Rachel. Must play guitar convincingly. Songs: “License to Chill,” “Margaritaville,” “Something About a Boat.”
Rachel– Female, 25–35, Mezzo-Soprano with strong belt (A3–F#5) Smart, ambitious environmental scientist from the city. Vacationing reluctantly with her best friend Tammy. Focused on her career, but charmed by Tully. Strong comedic and romantic chops. Songs: “We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About,” Cheeseburger in Paradise.”
Brick– Male, 25–35, Tenor (B2–C5) Tully’s best friend and fellow island bartender. Sweet, goofy, and lovable. Falls in love with Tammy. Needs good comedic instincts and charm. Songs: “We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About,” Cheeseburger in Paradise.”
Marley– Female, 40–60, Alto/Mezzo (G3–C5) Owner of the Margaritaville Hotel. Wise, warm, no-nonsense, and funny. Acts as a mentor to Tully and Brick. Songs: “Tin Cup Chalice,” “Volcano.”
J.D.– Male, 40–60, Baritone (G2–G4) An eccentric older island regular with endless tall tales. Often drinks too much, but has a heart of gold. Comic timing essential. Songs: “He Went to Paris,” Volcano.”
***FEATURED & ENSEMBLE ROLES***
Jamal– Male, 20–40, Baritone/Tenor, Hotel staff member, musician, and island local. Fun, charismatic, and good with harmonies.
Chantal– Female, 20-40, Mezzo, Hotel staff member. Playful, sassy, and part of the local vibes.
Ted & Chadd– Male, 20-30, Friends of Tammy’s fiancé. City guys who contrast with the laid-back islanders.
Ensemble– Any Gender, 20-50, Play tourists, locals, partygoers, dancers, and wedding guests. Strong comedic presence and ability to embody Jimmy Buffett’s tropical, fun-loving world.
