Theatre L’Acadie is going back to its roots for our first show of our 6th year. We are seeking 1 Actor & 2 Understudies for the upcoming Chicago premiere of Rising Water by John Biguenet, directed by co-artistic director Erin Sheets.
L’Acadie is highly encouraging BIPOC, LGBTQA+, non-binary, and actors of all abilities to apply. This play takes place during Hurricane Katrina. Those affected by Hurricane Katrina in the most vicious ways were historically non white and working class folks. We are planning to cast accordingly.

SYNOPSIS:
A New Orleans couple awakens in the middle of the night to find their house filling with water. Seeking refuge in their attic, they grapple with the rising water and the life they have lived together. Caught between an attic of memories and a rooftop that reveals a sea of sunken houses and wailing sirens, the man and woman wait for rescue. (Rising Water was nominated for a 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, commissioned by the National New Play Network)

CALLBACKS ARE NOVEMBER 8th - 11:00 - 5:00. Actors who are offered a callback will be given a time slot - while some actors may be asked to stay longer, no one will be required to attend the entire callback session. Callbacks will be at the Lycee Francais (1929 W Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60640)

Camille - WOC, she/her, “slender but no longer young” (reads 35+).
- We are seeking an actor to play Camille, as well as an actor to play Camille U/S.
Sugar - Black, he/him, “her husband, no longer young or slender” (reads 35+).
- The role of Sugar has been cast. We are seeking an actor to play Sugar U/S.
