Roles Available
MAN IN CHAIR
Male-presenting – Character Baritone (B♭2–E4)
A lonely, witty, and passionate musical theatre devotee who serves as the show’s narrator and emotional core.
From his apartment, he plays his favorite record, The Drowsy Chaperone, bringing it to vivid life. Must have
exceptional comic timing, warmth, and emotional depth. No formal dance, but expressive physicality required.
MRS. TOTTENDALE
Female-presenting – Soprano (G3–D5)
A delightfully eccentric, wealthy widow hosting the wedding at her estate. Endearing and scatterbrained, her
oblivious charm fuels much of the show’s chaos. Physical comedy and crisp timing are key. Light movement; no
formal dance.
UNDERLING
Male-presenting – Tenor (A♭2–G4)
Mrs. Tottendale’s prim, proper butler whose composure unravels with drink. Wry, dignified, and unexpectedly
funny. Requires sharp timing and physical comedy; some ballroom or stylized dance helpful.
ROBERT MARTIN
Male-presenting – Tenor (C3–A♭4)
The dashing, idealistic groom-to-be. A 1920s leading man with charm to spare. Must be a strong singer and athletic
dancer, with tap proficiency and comedic flair.
GEORGE
Male-presenting – Tenor (C3–B♭4)
Robert’s anxious best man and comic foil. A lovable bundle of nerves responsible for the wedding’s chaos. Must be
an excellent tap dancer and physical comedian.
FELDZIEG
Male-presenting – Baritone (D3–A4)
A fast-talking Broadway producer desperate to keep his star from leaving the stage. Neurotic, charmingly
exasperated, and deeply funny. Strong comedic instincts and rhythmic timing required; no formal dance.
KITTY
Female-presenting – Mezzo-Soprano (B♭3–F5)
Feldzieg’s bubbly, ambitious girlfriend who longs to be a star. A classic 1920s showgirl: flirty, confident, and
endearingly ditzy. Strong dancer and comic performer.
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE
Female-presenting – Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (F3–D5)
Janet’s glamorous, perpetually tipsy chaperone. A deliciously over-the-top diva who sings the powerhouse number
“As We Stumble Along.” Requires commanding presence, comic bravado, and rich vocal delivery.
ALDOLPHO
Male-presenting – Baritone (A♭2–G4)
A pompous, self-proclaimed Latin lover hired to seduce the bride—but hilariously targets the wrong woman. Needs
bold physicality, self-aware bravado, and sharp comic timing.
JANET VAN DE GRAAFF
Female-presenting – Soprano (G3–E♭6)
A dazzling Broadway star leaving fame behind for love. A confident, radiant triple threat who lights up every scene.
Must be an exceptional dancer (tap/jazz), dynamic singer, and expressive actor.
GANGSTERS (Disguised as Pastry Chefs)
Male-presenting (pair) – Tenor/Baritone (C3–G4)
Two bumbling mobsters posing as bakers. A vaudevillian comedy duo with impeccable rhythm and wit. Requires
strong physical comedy, coordination, and verbal timing.
TRIX (THE AVIATRIX)
Female-presenting – Alto/Mezzo-Belt (A3–E5)
A fearless, high-flying aviatrix who literally swoops in to save the day. Commanding, confident, and vocally
powerful. Minimal movement but must exude strength and charisma.
