Theatre for the Very Young
Kerfuffle is seeking adventurous and enthusiastic understudy for the revival of The Conductors, an interactive play for very young children and their caregivers that will perform at Lifeline Theatre this December.
Kerfuffle is seeking an understudy who can play the guitar, and who is interested in creating non-traditional and adventurous theatre for children ages 3-6 years old. The performer should be an excellent collaborator and be able to pick up on staging and movement quickly as the performer will be covering three tracks in the production. The performer must be able to lift at least 25lbs. Prior experience or interest in working with and/or teaching very young children and/or physical theatre and/or devising is preferred, but not required. The performer should feel comfortable with close interaction and improvisation with children and families.
Synopsis: Where should we go? Who shall we visit? The conductors are on a search for treasure in this play specifically designed for very young children. Brought to you by Kerfuffle, a theatre and dance company that creates whimsical and playful shows for very young audiences, The Conductors features original music and celebrates themes of community, friendship and new experiences – while exploring everywhere a train may take you and everyone it may connect you with. A perfect first theater experience for the very young, our whimsical show encourages audiences to “find their treasure” in everyday adventures, whether it be in blanket forts with grandma or meeting new friends in outer space.
Please take a look at the teasers on our Website for additional context on how the show involves kids and the movement that the performers use:

About Kerfuffle:
Kerfuffle is an award-winning midwestern theatre and dance company devoted to creating aesthetically and emotionally engaging performances for children ages 0-6 years old. Founded in 2015, Kerfuffle centers young children as major creative partners in the development of new work and shares playful, multi-sensory performances in museums, libraries, parks, and other nontraditional spaces. Children’s imagination is at the center of Kerfuffle’s process. In order to understand what engages, delights, and surprises children, Kerfuffle’s plays are developed through creative drama workshops where young people create stories, characters, and worlds in collaboration with adult artists. Kerfuffle is a registered 501(c)3 organization and is the 2020 recipient of the Zeta Phi Eta-Winifred Ward Outstanding New Children’s Theatre Company Award through the American Alliance for Theatre and Education.
