CASTING NOTICE – American Premiere of GANGSTA BABY by Cameron Raasdal-Munro
Open Space Arts is casting three performers for the American Premiere of GANGSTA BABY by Cameron Raasdal-Munro, directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair, MBE.
GANGSTA BABY is a bold, emotionally charged drama exploring class, environmental collapse, and the impact of parental rejection due to LGBTQIA+ identity—leading to deep internalized homophobia. The play won Best Fringe Play, Best Writer, and Best Male Actor (2024) from Pink Prince Theatre.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals begin August 25. Performances run from September 19 to October 19, with a possible extension through November 9.
Character Type/Restrictions:
SENIOR Male, 45–55. Caucasian. Cockney accent (South East London). A working-class, hardened career criminal with multiple stints in prison. Charismatic, volatile, narcissistic, and a drug addict. Senior exudes control and menace, but wrestles with his identity as a queer man and his role as a father to Junior. Must have strong presence and emotional range.
PETE Trans man or masculine-presenting actor. Playing age: 15–18. Any race. Pete is kind, protective, and emotionally open. A graffiti artist and drug dealer from a working-class background in Hastings, he is Junior’s stepbrother and the heart of GANGSTA BABY. Pete’s strength lies in his honesty and fierce loyalty.
MITCH (and others) Male. Playing age: 30+. Any race. A closeted middle-class man from Royal Tunbridge Wells. Married with a daughter. Mitch secretly hires male escorts to role-play humiliation rooted in class dynamics. Struggling with the cost of his double life, he borrows money from the gang that employs Senior. Complex and conflicted character.
