Website Forest Theatre Company
Forest Theatre Company (formerly Forest Park Theatre), seeks classically trained actors for its fifth-annual free Shakespeare in the Park production of Fletcher and Shakespeare’s The Two Noble Kinsmen at The Altenheim Grove in Forest Park, IL.
Two best friends, soldiers, are captured in battle and imprisoned. They see a beautiful woman from their window, and both fall instantly in love with her, turning from intimate friendship to jealous rivalry in the space of a minute. The Two Noble Kinsmen is a rarely produced story of friendship, war, madness, and fate, played out in an ancient world that feels very much like our own in its absurdity and strangeness.

Initial auditions will be by video submission. Please submit a video of two contrasting

Character Type/Restrictions:
Major Character Descriptions: (Please note: This is an ensemble piece and the company will take on a variety of roles. All actors will be expected to participate by singing, movement, and story-telling. We are aiming for a company of between 13 and 16.)
- Arcite and Palamon (20s) – The two noble kinsmen of the title. Palamon is moodier and emotional; Arcite is kinder and more grounded. They are both soldiers as well as noblemen, and they are very close – too close? They are rivals for the affections of Emilia.
- Theseus (30’s-40’s and beyond) - The Duke of Athens, a mighty warrior who has recently conquered the Amazons and is marrying their Queen, Hippolyta.
- Hippolyta (20’s, 30’s) – a warrior Queen.
- Emilia (20’s) - Hippolyta’s sister. Like her an Amazon, she has fought in battles with her sister.
- Jailer (40’s, beyond) – Holds the two noble kinsmen prisoner
- Jailer’s Daughter (18) - Immature, romantic, and more than ready to lose her virginity, she grows in knowledge throughout the play, ultimately going mad.
- Queens, country folks, doctor, Herald, dancers, knights, etc. are played by the company.
