WHERE STORIES IGNITE
Oil Lamp Theater is seeking submissions for strong actors for its production of Gaslight (Angel Street) by Patrick Hamilton. Susan Gorman will direct.
Run: 10/2/2025-10/26/2025 (with a possible extension through 11/2/2025)
Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm; Wednesdays, October 8 and 22 (at 11am and 3pm) and October 15 (at 7:30pm). If the show is extended there will be performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
Rehearsals will begin August 19 and are typically held from 7:00-10:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm until tech which begins on Saturday, August 9.
Initial auditions will be INVITE ONLY and will be held at Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview on Monday, April 21 beginning at 7:00pm.

Compensation will be $870. This includes a $150 rehearsal stipend and $30 per performance (24 performances total). If an extension is added actors will be paid an additional $30 per performance.
Compensation for Understudies is $530 and includes one guaranteed performance. Understudies will be paid $30 per performance for each additional show performed. If an extension is added to this production’s run, understudies will receive $50 per additional weekend. Understudies must attend a minimum of one rehearsal/performance a week and be at all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews.

Character Type/Restrictions:
Mr. Manningham - Mid 40’s, Established British Middle Class. Jack is charming, worldly, manipulative, superior, calculated and authoritative.
Mrs. Manningham – Early 30’s, Established British Middle Class. Bella has been married to Mr. Manningham for 5 years. She is kind, trusting, vulnerable, obedient, isolated, intelligent, increasingly unsure, and fearful.
Elizabeth – 30+, Traditional Working Class, employed by the Manningham’s as head housekeeper. Elizabeth is loyal, proper, disciplined, empathetic, and dedicated.
Nancy – Early 20’s, Emerging Working Class, employed by Mr. Manningham as a house maid. Nancy is flirtatious, young, sassy, ambitious, and indiscrete.
Rough – 40+, Capitalist Class ( Professional working class). Detective Rough is observant, trustworthy, patient, methodical, low-key, driven and direct.
Casting Notes:
Most characters we encounter in the show are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, we seek to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.
